Power Nigeria 2018 begins today

The popular power exhibition event, Power Nigeria 2018 begins today. The programme is a must attend event for anyone with an interest in the power industry.

According to the organiser, this year’s edition of the event will provide participants the opportunity to meeting industry professionals and take home valuable market information through the CPD-certified Power Nigeria agenda.

The three-day event will hold at the Landmark Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos, from Tuesday 25th and Thursday 27th September, 2018 from 10.00 am to 5.00pm daily.

Panelists comprising experts and power industry stakeholders expected at the event are: the Co-Founder, Gridless Africa, Olu Ogunlela; the President, Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), Babatunde Paul Ruwase; the Commissioner, Lagos State Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Honourable Olawale Oluwo; the Chairman, Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), Professor James Momoh; the Director-General and Chief Executive, Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON), Osita A. Aboloma; Head of Revenue Protection Unit, Assets Protection, Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC), Engineer Jude Ugwuoke; the Chief Executive Officer, Climate Innovation Centre Nigeria (CICN), Bankole Oloruntoba and the Senior Director – Nigeria, African Development Bank (AfDB), Ebrima Faal, among others, will discuss: Policies required to better meet distributed energy demand; Creating standards for Nigeria’s electricity marketplace; Loss reduction techniques for the utility-scale power industry; Introduction to the Climate Innovation Centre Nigeria (CICN); Off-grid strategies for 2019; Total lifecycle digital transformation in the utility industry and Workshop on designing mini-grid systems.

Commenting, a lecturer at the Electrical Engineering Department, Ahmadu Bello University, Dr (Engr) Tajudeen Humble Sikiru said: “This workshop will cover what makes up a mini-grid system, how to predict the size mini-grid required, how to grow a mini-grid to meet increased demand, and how to design an entire system. Challenges to consider will include how to anticipate intermediate low battery voltage, where to find necessary data in the planning stages, mini-grid modelling, and smart metering insights into mini-grids.”

Expected at the event are Government representatives, electricity distribution companies (Discos), the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON), Solar Mini Grid Leaders, Schneider Electric, Lucy Electric, Elsewedy Electric Nigeria, Climate Innovation Centre Nigeria (CICN), Alliance for Rural Electrification (ARE) and the EarthSpace Resources, among others.

Visitors will also have the opportunity of sourcing quality products at reasonable prices, discover new technologies, connect with new partners/investors, network with industry professionals, explore funding opportunities and learn from industry experts.
