Ramat has also completed executive certifications from institutions including Harvard University (Big Data Analytics, Civil Engagement), Google (Workshop Administration), Microsoft (Azure Solutions Architect Expert), and Gonzaga University (Power Transmission and Distribution Systems).
He received his primary school certificate from a community school in his locality and completed his junior secondary school education at Government Technical College, Ungogo. He obtained his secondary school certificate from Dawakin Tofa Science College. To further his education, he enrolled in an IJMB Programme at the College of Arts, Science and Remedial Studies, Kano.
Abdullahi Garba Ramat, newly appointed Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).Between 2021 and 2024, while serving as Executive Chairman of Ungogo Local Government Area, Ramat oversaw the introduction of a blockchain-based decentralised electronic identity system used for issuing indigene and resident identification cards.
He also established the Ungogo Identity Management Agency (UIMA) and the Ungogo Internal Revenue Agency (UIRA) to support local administrative and revenue processes.
During his tenure, the Ungogo Internal Revenue Agency implemented a cloud-based Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system that increased internally generated revenue by over 300 percent.
Prior to this, Ramat was Managing Director of the Kano State Metropolitan Agency, where he oversaw energy retrofitting work aimed at reducing power consumption in public facilities.Ramat developed a surveillance platform known as LURA, which integrates Internet of Things (IoT) technology, biometrics, and real-time data analysis to support local safety and respond to security concerns.
He is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of AG Ramat Global Link and AG Ramat Global Apex, companies that provide engineering and technology-related services.
Ramat also founded the Ramat Foundation, which focuses on assisting the needy and less privileged. Among its achievements, the Foundation has enrolled over 500 dropouts back into school, providing them with necessary support, distributed 200,000 writing materials to primary schools in Kano, built an Islamic school in Zaura and facilitated the completion of a primary school in Rangaza Ward.
In the health sector, the Foundation organises health outreaches, distributing free drugs and medical assistance. It has renovated and built primary healthcare centres, prioritising rural areas.
The Foundation renovated and built a new block at Minjibir and Danrimi Hospitals. On July 2, 2018, in collaboration with Multipro Inc., India, the Ramat Foundation provided free artificial limbs to 200 amputees.
He was named among the “50 Most Influential Young African Leaders” by the Pan African Youth Leadership Foundation in 2022 and was recognised by the Kano State House of Assembly as the “Best Performing Local Government Chairman.”
