The Africa Finance Corporation (AFC) has signed a landmark agreement with the Solid Minerals Development Fund to jointly finance three major mining initiatives, including a $1.3 billion alumina refinery project.

The partnership is expected to boost job creation, drive technology transfer, increase foreign exchange earnings, and strengthen long-term contributions to GDP. Officials emphasized that beyond the strong financial figures, the focus remains on ensuring the viability and sustainability of the projects.

The agreement marks a significant step toward expanding the mining sector’s role in economic growth by committing substantial capital to the proper development of the country’s mineral resources.
