The State House has announced that the Aso Rock Presidential Villa will fully disconnect from Nigeria’s national electricity grid by March 2026 following the completion of its solar power project.
State House Permanent Secretary, Temitope Fashedemi, disclosed that the solar installation has been completed and is currently undergoing final testing. According to him, the transition to full solar power is expected to be finalized by March next year.
The move is aimed at reducing reliance on the national grid and diesel generators, while cutting energy costs and promoting sustainable power use within the Presidency.
Once completed, the development will make the Presidential Villa one of the major government facilities in Nigeria to operate independently of the national grid.
