The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has resumed the sale of petrol in naira after a brief suspension caused by crude oil supply constraints. This development was confirmed in a customer notice seen by Reuters on Saturday.

The refinery announced that local currency sales would restart immediately, following the intervention of the chairman of the Naira for Crude Technical Committee.

The move reverses an earlier decision to pause naira-denominated sales, which had sparked concerns over fuel availability and pricing in Nigeria — Africa’s largest economy.

Despite commencing domestic petrol supply earlier this year, the Dangote refinery — the largest in Africa — has grappled with difficulties in securing adequate crude oil feedstock, a reflection of broader production challenges within Nigeria’s oil sector.
