In its efforts to build on the success recorded at the recently-concluded Sustainable Energy Finance Workshop (SEFi 2018), First City Monument Bank (FCMB) has announced that it will hold a ‘Blockchain networking event’ aiming to improving participants’ knowledge of blockchain technology as a useful tool for Renewable Energy Solutions.

The networking event tagged: ‘Blockchain Technology in Energy Access Finance for Africa’, will hold on Wednesday, 5th September, 2018, at the First City Monument Bank (FCMB), 38 Adeola Hopewell St, Victoria Island, Lagos, by 9.30 am.

Expected speakers at the event include: the Executive Director, Business Development, FCMB, Mrs Bukola Smith; Chief Executive Officer, All On, Wiebe Boer; the Director of Climate Finance Advisor, Dr Jubril Adeojo; President of the African Mini-Grid Developers Association (AMDA), Mr Alexander Obiechina; Private Enterprise Officer, United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Jodi-Kaye and the Vice President, One Watt Solar (OWS), Victor Alagbe.

Some of the topics that will be explored by discussants at the sessions include: Could BlockChain become the new big deal for Energy Pipeline Deal in Nigeria?; Understanding crypto currency; The role of local finance in bridging Nigeria’s energy gap; Innovative finance to crystallize growth in the clean energy industry in Nigeria; Understand the mechanics behind blockchain technology; How local currency fund can be designed for local developers; Crowd Funding; Its merits and demerits with FX risk; Green Bond, Pension Funds, Intervention Funds and Other Patient Capitals and How to take advantage of the Blockchain/cryptocurrency evolution among others. Sessions will be moderated by Según Adaju of Consistent Energy.
