It is my distinct honour to welcome you all to Alausa today. Your presence here is a strong affirmation of our collective resolve to secure a stable, reliable, and prosperous power future for Nigeria.
We are gathered to formally commission the newly installed 1x100MVA, 132/33kV Power Transformer here at the Alausa Transmission Substation. This project is a direct reflection of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Administration and TCN’s unrelenting drive to strengthen and expand the nation’s transmission infrastructure.
•Engr. Sule Ahmed Abdulaziz delivering his welcome address during the event.
This installation replaces the substation’s existing 1x30MVA, 132/33kV transformer, increasing its capacity by 70MVA and raising total substation capacity from 135MVA to 205MVA. This significant upgrade enhances the substation’s ability to serve its growing load demand.
Executed by Messrs Shanghai Electric Ltd under a World Bank-funded initiative that commenced in January 2021, this project stands as a testament to TCN’s tenacity in delivering critical infrastructure/projects despite challenges encountered during implementation. Upon energisation, it will deliver more stable and reliable power to at least 70,000 residents across Alausa and its environs, through the Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company.
Beyond serving the immediate community, this upgrade meaningfully increases the quantum of bulk power that TCN can wheel to distribution load centers nationwide. It reinforces grid stability and ensures that more bulk power reaches the distribution companies’ load centers for onward delivery to electricity consumers within their franchise areas. It is a clear demonstration that TCN remains resolute in its mandate of building and sustaining a robust transmission network, capable of transporting Nigeria’s growing power needs to various distribution load centres nationwide.
This achievement aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, and reflects the continued visionary leadership and guidance of the Honourable Minister of Power in ensuring a systematic and steady progress in the power sector, for which we at TCN are truly grateful.
On behalf of TCN, I extend our profound appreciation to the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Honourable Minister of Power, whose passion for the Power Sector is palpable, the World Bank, the Lagos State Government, our contractors, our engineers, and all stakeholders whose support and collaboration have made this milestone possible.
Thank you for taking time out to attend this very important event. God bless you all, and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
