The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company Plc (IBEDC) has confirmed the abduction of two of its staff members in Ogun State.


In a statement signed by the company’s management, IBEDC disclosed that the workers were kidnapped on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, while carrying out their official duties.


According to the statement, the two employees were abducted around the Ogunmakin area along the Ibadan–Ijebu Ode Road.

“We are deeply concerned about this situation, and our thoughts are with our colleagues and their families at this difficult time,” the company said.


IBEDC noted that it has already established contact with relevant security agencies and is working closely with them to ensure the safe rescue of the abducted staff.


“IBEDC is working closely with relevant security agencies to ensure the safe return of the affected staff. We are also in active engagement with their families, providing the necessary support,” the statement added.


The company explained that it could not provide further details due to the sensitive nature of the incident and ongoing rescue efforts, while appealing to the public for understanding and restraint.


IBEDC assured that updates would be communicated as the situation develops.
