President Bola Tinubu has appointed Professor Shu’aib Aliyu as the Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund.
Aliyu replaces Ahmed Aminu, who resigned his position to pursue the 2027 governorship election in Adamawa State.
The President also approved the renewal of the appointment of Sule Abdulaziz as the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Transmission Company of Nigeria for a second and final term.
The appointments take immediate effect.
According to a statement issued on Thursday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Aliyu is a seasoned academic and administrator with extensive experience in research and institutional leadership.
“His appointment underscores the President’s commitment to strengthening key institutions in the petroleum sector and advancing capacity development for Nigeria’s energy industry.
The President expects him to leverage his wealth of experience to reposition the PTDF for greater impact in human capital development, innovation, and strategic support for the oil and gas sector in line with national priorities,” Onanuga said.
On Abdulaziz’s reappointment, the Presidency said the decision followed a review of his performance in overseeing the nation’s transmission network.
It noted that under his leadership, the company recorded improvements in grid stability, expansion of transmission capacity, and system modernisation.
The statement also highlighted Abdulaziz’s role in advancing regional electricity integration through the West African Power Pool.
Tinubu urged both appointees to discharge their duties with diligence and integrity in line with his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
