In commemoration of Workers’ Day, the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) organised a novelty football match between the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) and the Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO), aimed at promoting unity, teamwork, healthy living, and staff well-being across both organisations.

The match, played in a lively and friendly atmosphere, featured impressive displays of skill, teamwork, and sportsmanship from both sides. At the final whistle, TCN emerged victorious with a 5–3 win over NISO.


The event highlighted the importance of fostering stronger workplace relationships beyond formal duties, reinforcing both organisations’ shared commitment to collaboration, employee engagement, and staff welfare.

Management officials from both organisations were present to witness the match, including the Executive Director, Transmission Service Provider (TCN), Engr. Oluwagbenga Ajiboye; Executive Director, Finance and Accounts (TCN), Mr. Chuks Ochijie; and General Manager, Engineering (TCN), Engr. Mojeed Akintola.

Also in attendance were the Executive Director, Finance and Corporate Services (NISO), Mr. Ibironke Babajide; General Manager, Human Resources (NISO), Mrs. Tijanni Halima; and General Manager, Legal Services (NISO), Barr. Bashiru Mohammed, alongside other staff members from both organisations.


The Workers’ Day football match served as a platform for strengthening camaraderie and promoting a healthy work-life culture within Nigeria’s power sector.
