The Federal Ministry of Power has announced the resumption of Mr. Adebayo Adelabu, as its new Minister of Power, while resuming the Minister pledged his commitment in ensuring improvement in the Power Sector and in delivering on the Ministry’s Mandate, promising that the Ministry is now our Ministry.
The Ministry, in a statement, today 21st August, 2023 in Maitama, Abuja, said that he enjoined the staff, to work as team, adding that to solve a problem need commitment and discipline.
The Permanent Secretary, Mr. Temitope Fashedemi handed over the mantle of leadership of the Ministry to the Hon. Minister after the Ministers swearing in ceremony at the State House conference centre in Abuja by Mr. President, His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR).
During the brief ceremony which was witnessed by the Directors in the Ministry, Heads of Agencies and parastatals under Ministry of Power, Staff of the Ministry, the Press and host of other dignitaries that accompanied the Hon. Minister, Mr. Adelabu expressed his heartfelt gratitude to His excellency Mr President for giving him the opportunity to serve the country in this capacity. He promised to work with all stakeholders in the Power sector to see that they diligently provide optimal solutions for Nigerian’s power needs across the nation.
Adelabu while pledging his commitment to achieving success in Nigeria’s Power sector, stated that his vision is rooted in leveraging the Nigerian Electricity Act of 2023. The new Electricity Act has opened new avenues for power provision. It also encourages collaboration between Public and Private sector. Provision of electricity is no longer exclusive responsibility of the Federal Government of Nigeria.
He further affirmed that the power sector is key and critical to turning around the economy in line with Mr President electoral promises. Attention will also be given to renewable and alternative energy sources to fastrack access in Rural areas.
The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Power, Mr. Temitope Fashedemi in his remarks, assured the Minister of the support and corporation of the Management and Staff of the Ministry. He stated that the Staff of the Ministry of Power and its Agencies are ready to work with the Hon. Minister to ensure that the Hon Minister succeeds in effecting Mr President’s mandate for the electricity sector.
Adelabu said that in the next couple of the years it will be something of the past because Nigeria needs 24/7 Electricity Supply in the country. He further said anything short of performance is not acceptable to Nigeria.
