The 14th NNPC Ltd. Sports Fiesta will kick off this weekend (Sunday, November 30, 2025) at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja, as the Company works to maintain its legendary reputation as the team to beat at the Nigeria Oil & Gas Industry Games (NOGIG) scheduled for February next year.
This year’s biennial event, themed “Energy in Motion: Compete, Connect & Celebrate,” will feature 450 athletes, underscoring NNPC Ltd’s commitment to promoting physical well-being as a key driver of employee productivity and organizational excellence.
The one-week tournament, which will round off on Saturday, December 6, 2025, will host teams drawn from NNPC Ltd’s six zones, grouped to reflect the Company’s three core values: Team Integrity (Port Harcourt/Benin), Team Excellence (Lagos/Warri), and Team Sustainability (Abuja/Kaduna).
Participants will compete in 13 sporting events, including football, basketball, volleyball, chess, squash, scrabble, 8-ball pool, golf, tennis, table tennis, badminton, swimming, and athletics, promising a week of intense and exciting contests.
The fiesta will also provide a platform to identify athletes who will represent NNPC Ltd at the 20th Nigeria Oil & Gas Industry Games (NOGIG) in February 2026, where the Company will once again seek to defend its long-held title as overall champion.
NNPC Ltd has been a dominant force at NOGIG, which features participants from International Oil Companies (IOCs) operating in Nigeria as well as key agencies under the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources. At the last edition held in 2024 at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, the Company emerged overall winner, securing 50 medals comprising 20 gold, 9 silver, and 21 bronze.
