Ikeja Electric Plc has attributed the persistent power outages being experienced across parts of Lagos to a reduction in electricity allocation from the national grid.
In a statement posted on its official X platform on Friday, the distribution company apologised to customers for the disruption, noting that several areas within its coverage network have been affected by the drop in supply.
“We sincerely regret the ongoing power supply challenges currently affecting some areas within our network due to reduced power allocation from the grid,” the company stated.
To manage the limited electricity supply, Ikeja Electric said it has commenced controlled load distribution, explaining that the measure is aimed at maintaining system stability while ensuring a fair spread of available power across affected areas.
“As part of efforts to maintain grid stability and ensure equitable distribution of available power, temporary load shedding is being implemented across affected feeders and locations,” it added.
The company further disclosed that it is working closely with stakeholders across the electricity value chain to improve supply and minimise the impact of the outages on consumers.
The latest development comes amid ongoing electricity shortages in Lagos and other parts of the country, largely driven by gas supply constraints that continue to affect power generation nationwide.
The situation persists despite recent initiatives by some state governments aimed at reducing dependence on the national grid through alternative energy interventions.
