The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has taken delivery of four new power transformers for two transmission substations in Kaduna State as part of efforts to strengthen electricity supply across the North-West region.
According to the Company, two 150MVA 330/132/33kV power transformers were delivered to the Jaja Transmission Substation in Kudan Local Government Area, while two 66MVA 132/33kV transformers arrived at the Jaji Transmission Substation in Igabi Local Government Area on Monday, March 2, 2026.
The projects are being financed by the African Development Bank (AfDB) and are aimed at improving power reliability and expanding transmission capacity in the region.
TCN said the installation works at both substations have reached an advanced stage, raising optimism among the company and host communities that the projects will soon be completed.
When completed, the Jaja 330/132/33kV Transmission Substation will be connected to the 330kV Kano Transmission Line, a key link expected to significantly strengthen the electricity transmission network in the North-West.
The new infrastructure is expected to help reduce power outages, improve voltage stability, and ensure a more reliable bulk electricity supply to distribution load centres serving Kano State and surrounding areas.
TCN noted that the upgrades form part of broader efforts to modernise Nigeria’s transmission network and improve electricity delivery to homes and businesses.
