India’s Inox Clean Energy has partnered with diversified conglomerate RJ Corp Limited to launch an integrated renewable energy platform aimed at deploying more than 10 GW of solar photovoltaic (PV) capacity across Africa.
According to a report by Renewables Now, the companies have established a 50:50 joint venture that has acquired SkyPower Services MENA Ltd, securing a portfolio of assets for their independent power producer (IPP) platform. The new entity will leverage a multi-gigawatt development pipeline comprising projects backed by power purchase agreements (PPAs), as well as secured land and grid-connection infrastructure.
The platform will initially focus on high-growth African markets, including Zambia, Zimbabwe and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
In its first phase, the IPP platform aims to add 570 MW of solar capacity, with construction expected to begin in the coming months. Over the longer term, the venture is targeting the installation of 2.5 GW by fiscal year 2029.
“With its immense potential and untapped opportunities, Africa offers significant headroom for growth beyond our initial 570 MW phase,” said Devansh Jain, Executive Director of the INOXGFL Group, the parent company of Inox Clean Energy.
