The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Ltd and Seplat Energy Plc Joint Venture (JV) have announced a scheduled routine maintenance exercise on their gas production facilities from February 12 to 15, 2026.
Seplat Energy Plc, a JV partner of NNPC Ltd, is a key supplier of gas into the NNPC Gas Infrastructure Company Limited (NGIC) pipeline network.
According to the companies, the planned maintenance forms part of standard industry safety and asset integrity protocols aimed at ensuring the continued reliability, efficiency, and safe operation of critical gas infrastructure. Such periodic maintenance is essential to sustain optimal system performance, strengthen operational resilience, and minimize the risk of unplanned outages.
During the four-day maintenance period, there will be a temporary reduction in gas supply into the NGIC pipeline network. Consequently, some power generation companies dependent on this supply may experience reduced gas availability, which could moderately affect electricity generation within the period.
NNPC Ltd and Seplat Energy stated that they are working closely to ensure the maintenance is executed safely and completed as scheduled. In addition, NNPC Gas Marketing Limited (NGML) is engaging alternative gas suppliers to mitigate anticipated supply gaps and maintain network stability.
Full gas supply into the NGIC system is expected to resume promptly upon completion of the maintenance exercise, enabling affected power generation companies to return to normal operations.
