This development has thrown the whole of Damaturu, the capital of Yobe State, up to Maiduguri in Borno State out of power supply.
The incident caused the collapse of both towers, cutting off power supply to Bayelsa State, including TCN’s Yenagoa Sub-station and the Gbarain Power Station.
the incident, happened at about 10:15pm, on Tuesday night, when the 150MVA power transformer at Molai Substation tripped at the same time as the 330kV transmission line supplying bulk power to Maiduguri from Damaturu Transmission Substation.
We are committed to a quick restoration of bulk power on the line route.
It was gathered that the vandals destroyed 132kV double circuit power transmission lines, 330kV double circuit lines, and carried out soil excavation that threatened transmission towers, as the Federal Government described the development as sabotage.
