The management of Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JEDC) Plc, has disclosed that it is targeting about one million customers in Benue, Bauchi, Gombe and Plateau states by the end of 2018 from the current over 472,000 customers.

The Managing Director, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Alhaji Mohammed Gidado Modibbo, disclosed this in Bauchi at the company’s customers consultative forum meeting in Bauchi.

The Managing Director, who was represented by the company’s Head of Planning and Network Expansion, Mansir Salihu Nakande, revealed that the company will also provide statistical meters on transformers to checkmate overbilling of customers in Bauchi and environs.

According to him, the statistical meters will help the company handle energy supply issues, curtail indebtedness and ensure fairness to JED customers.

Modibbo warned that the company would prosecute consumers who bypass meters describing them as thieves who consume energy without paying for it.

Also speaking, the Regional Manager, Bauchi, Hafiz Saleh Hassan, reassured customers that the meters being installed are well calibrated and certified by the Nigeria Electricity Management Services Agency (NEMSA).
