The upcoming Africa Energy Forum 2026 is set to spotlight critical discussions around investment, infrastructure, and the continent’s energy transition, as leading organizations confirm participation in its high-level Hosted Boardrooms.
Scheduled to take place from 16–19 June in Cape Town, the forum will bring together senior stakeholders from across Africa’s energy sector to engage in solution-driven dialogue on pressing industry challenges.
Hosted Boardrooms, a key feature of the event, provide sponsors with a platform to lead focused discussions on topics of their choice, curate expert speakers, and engage directly with decision-makers.
Several major players have already confirmed their sessions:
Africa50 will lead a discussion on “Unlocking Africa's Grid Investment: The Independent Transmission Opportunity,” addressing how Independent Transmission Projects (ITPs) can help attract private capital, ease transmission bottlenecks, and support cross-border electricity trade without increasing sovereign debt. The session will also examine lessons from Kenya’s Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model and the policy frameworks needed to scale such initiatives across the continent.
Genesis Energy will focus on “Financing Africa's Gas Infrastructure Deficit,” highlighting the role of gas-to-power in ensuring reliable baseload electricity. The session is expected to explore strategies for unlocking stranded gas resources, structuring bankable projects, and leveraging blended finance and risk mitigation tools to drive investment.
Seriti Green will present on “Delivering a Just Energy Transition in Mpumalanga,” using the South African province as a case study for balancing energy security, job creation, and economic sustainability while transitioning from coal. The discussion will emphasize aligning public and private sector investments to support large-scale transformation.
Meanwhile, USP&E has also confirmed participation, with session details expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
